Gustavo Marangoni

Gustavo Marangoni is a Brazilian student who grew up in Uruguay, where he graduated from high school. He came to the United States in 2020 through a college tennis scholarship and graduated from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in May 2024. During his undergraduate studies, he majored in Political Science with a Foreign Affairs concentration.

At American University, Gustavo is currently a second-year master’s student at the School of International Service, where he is specializing in Global Governance, Politics, and Security. Gustavo has served as a Senator-at-large at the SIS Graduate Student Council, where he gained skills in project management and organization of student events.

Apart from his academic achievements, Gustavo has worked at a consulting firm located in Uruguay, and has also worked as a tutor for two of his years during his undergraduate studies. Currently, he works as a Research Assistant for an International Political Economy professor at SIS and also is an Event Assistant at American University’s Katzen Arts Center.

As the Vice President of Finance, Gustavo plans on applying his experience on allocating the necessary resources to support all of the GLC’s events and initiatives, which are aimed at enhancing the overall graduate student experience at American University
